Technical support for conference interpreting

Professional conference interpreting depends on seamless technical delivery. Our specialist AV technicians prepare, test and operate the interpreting system so that interpreters can hear every speaker clearly and attendees can follow the event in the language they need.

Technical support for conference interpreting

Multilingual conferences have technical requirements that go beyond a standard sound setup. The audio feed must reach the interpreters clearly and without delay, each language channel must be routed correctly, and every participant must receive reliable sound.

It is essential that the technicians supporting the event are experts in conference interpreting, not only in general sound production. A conventional sound technician may be highly skilled but may not understand how simultaneous interpretation works, how interpreters use consoles, how language channels must be routed or what the booth team needs to perform reliably. Our technicians understand the complete signal path—from microphones and interpreting consoles to transmitters, receivers, headsets and online platforms—and remain focused on the interpreting system throughout the event.

Whenever we provide translation equipment, we assign our own specialist technicians. Their experience with multilingual events helps prevent avoidable technical gaps between the main sound system, the interpreters and the audience.

Technical planning before your event

Reliable delivery starts well before the first speaker takes the floor. We review the venue, event format, room layout, languages, number of participants and equipment already available. Depending on the event setup, we can recommend the most suitable technical options. Where necessary, we coordinate directly with the venue or your event-production team to confirm connections, responsibilities and access times.

Interpreting booths, consoles, transmitters and other technical equipment for conference interpreting must be installed and tested before the event. The room must therefore be available to our technicians for at least four hours before the event startsor, depending on the schedule and complexity of the setup, from the previous day. Venue access, loading arrangements, security clearance and permission to work in the room must be agreed and cleared well in advance.

  • Review of the venue’s microphones, mixer, sound system and connectivity
  • Planning for booths, consoles, transmitters, receivers and headsets
  • Audio routing for every interpreting language
  • Integration with presentation, streaming, recording or remote-participation systems
  • Pre-event installation, sound checks and contingency planning

Support throughout the event

Our technicians install and test the interpreting equipment, verify each language channel and support the interpreters before and during the assignment. They monitor the system, respond quickly if a technical issue arises and help keep the event running smoothly.

Even if the event organiser is responsible for arranging the distribution and collection of receivers and headsets and for assigning suitable staff to this task, our technicians can explain the equipment handover process and provide technical guidance. Because receivers are valuable professional devices, we recommend using an identification-based handover process so every unit can be accounted for at the end of the event.

Onsite, hybrid and remote technical support

We adapt the technical workflow to onsite, hybrid and remote events. For hybrid and remote formats, this may include platform configuration, remote interpreter connections, audio routing between the venue and online participants, and coordination with live streaming, recording or live-captioning providers.

For larger productions, our interpreting technicians work closely with the event organiser’s or venue’s wider AV team. Clear responsibilities and advance testing ensure that the interpreting setup integrates correctly with microphones, cameras, screens, presentations and the main sound system.

One coordinated interpreting solution

Working with one translation provider keeps the interpreters, interpreting equipment and specialist technical support aligned throughout your event. We can also take care of live streaming and recording and work with our professional captionists to provide live captioning when required. Bringing these services together reduces coordination gaps, simplifies communication and gives you a single point of contact.
